Iris Jugo, OSCG cellist

orge G. Cuenllas is an orchestral conductor with a passionate artistic vision, a solid instrumental background, and a career that combines intellectual depth with expressive energy.

He began his musical journey as a flautist, graduating from the Royal Superior Conservatory of Music of Madrid and furthering his studies at the Superior Conservatory of Aragón with teachers Emily Beynon and Silvia Careddu. His transition to orchestral conducting was consolidated between 2016 and 2019 at the Opus 23 Conducting Academy, under the tutelage of Miguel Romea and Andrés Salado, where he acquired comprehensive training focused on technical excellence, gestural clarity, and a deep understanding of the repertoire.

Since then, he has led a wide range of orchestras and ensembles both in Spain and abroad, demonstrating great stylistic versatility, artistic sensitivity, and stage leadership. He has conducted repertoire spanning from the Baroque of Vivaldi and Corelli to the Romantic symphonies of Brahms, Mahler, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky, as well as 20th and 21st-century music, such as The Soldier’s Tale by Stravinsky or Appalachian Spring by Copland.

Among the orchestras he has conducted is the Getafe City Symphony Orchestra (OSCG), where he has tackled ambitious symphonic programs such as Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, Mendelssohn’s No. 4, Sibelius’s Symphony No. 4, Brahms’s No. 4, and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings. With the Alma Mahler Symphony Orchestra, of which he has been the Chief Conductor since 2023, he has promoted diverse and innovative programming, with a special focus on forgotten repertoires and historical female composers, as well as thematic programs like John Williams in Concert or Zarzuela Gala with renowned soloists.

He has also been invited by ensembles such as the Getafe Music Band, the Damián Sánchez Music Band of Alcobendas, the Maestro Guerrero Band of Villacañas, the Villacañas Music Band, the Magán Music Band (as Chief Conductor between 2020 and 2022), the Joaquín Turina Municipal Band of Arganda del Rey (Chief Conductor since 2024), the Bilbao Municipal Band, the Barcelona Municipal Band, and the BMG Brass Ensemble.

Internationally, in 2022 he conducted the Suonne International Ensemble at the Educational Arts Theatre of Panguipulli (Chile), with a Baroque and Classical repertoire that included works by Boccherini, Corelli, and Vivaldi, and the Bucharest Radio Orchestra in 2025. Furthermore, he was a semi-finalist in the II Warsaw Wind Ensemble Conducting Competition (2021) and participated in the V Conducting International Competition Città di Brescia (Italy, 2023), reaching the second round.

Jorge combines his artistic profile with a relentless search for new ways to connect with the audience through gesture and orchestral expressiveness. His approach is characterized by a deep respect for the score, a clear and energetic conducting style, and a constant commitment to music as a form of total communication.
